Finding Add-ons¶
- The System section allows you to set graphics card options, memory limits & sound settings. If your hardware does not support some of the options described on this page, then they will either not show up or be corrected on startup.
- The current size of the User Preferences limits us too much in space. We end up cramming together options quite a bit, even though some more whitespace would increase readability. Have two levels of grouping, first the 'category' (User Preferences, Workspaces, System), then the settings-'group' (Interface, Add-ons, Theme, Devices, etc.).
Blender comes with some pre-installed Add-ons already, ready to be enabled. But you can also add your own, or any interesting ones you find on the web.
Blender’s add-ons are split into two groups depending on who writes/supports them:
- Official: Add-ons that are written by Blender developers.
- Community: Add-ons that are written by people in the Blender community.
Shows only enabled add-ons for the current Category.
Add-ons are divided into categories by what areas of Blender they affect.
Enabling and Disabling¶
Enable and disable an add-on by checking or unchecking the box to the rightof the add-on you chose, as shown in the figure below.
The add-on functionality should be immediately available.
Note
Add-ons that activate or change multiple hotkeys have a special system of activation. For example, with the “UI: Pie Menu Official” add-onfor each menu there’s a selection box to activate the menu and its hotkey.
